Business Process Management

From process mapping to business process re-engineering, we ensure that our clients’ processes deliver effective and efficient outcomes supported by targeted training; education regimes; and KPI development and review.  Our risk management and audit capabilities and experience provide additional depth and value to our clients. 

 

GMDR Group Consultants have significant experience in developing procedural and other corporate and operational documentation to support our client’s policies, vision and value.  This is often extended to developing documentation that addresses regulatory, commercial and statutory requirements.  Examples include:

  • Asset Inspection:  Developed documentation for Asset Inspection Services for a number of Electricity Distribution Networks in Victoria. The documentation included:   Strategic Plan; Operations Plan; and Workforce Management Plan.
  • NECF:  Developed and implemented process and documentation solutions to ensure the client’s networks were National Energy Customer Framework (NECF) compliant by 1 July 2012. 
  • AMI MRO Processes:  Reviewed, augmented and documented works and customer management processes associated with the client’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Mass Roll Out (MRO) Program.

Project & Change Management

The GMDR Group has proven experience in providing project / program management services. GMDR Group Consultants combine detailed utility industry process and functional experience with robust business and project management disciplines.

 

Our experience extends to transformation activities, utilising change management principles, across functional areas such as procurement operations, commercial operations, and back-office operations. 

 

GMDR Group Consultants also have experience in assisting with ERP (SAP & Oracle) business process design, implementation, & roll out.   Examples include:

  • Back Office Insourcing:  Project managed the hand back of core management functions & activities between two energy businesses.  The project included the transition of functions and processes from the incumbent service provider to the client’s new offshore service provider.  The insourcing project was achieved over a 6 month period and represented a $3.5 million investment by the client.
  • Enterprise Content Management System:  Provided comprehensive project management and configuration services for the redesign of the client’s records management system, across a number of business units with a project value in excess of $750K.

Procurement

GMDR Group has in-depth experience in energy utility procurement, covering: planning & spend analysis, procurement strategy and process redesign, tender operations management, purchasing operations management, commercial and contract analysis & support, and technical writing support.

 

GMDR Group delivers end to end procurement outcomes using either its client’s processes or GMDR Group’s established and proven procurement framework.

 

GMDR Group regularly procures goods and / or services on behalf of its clients, where the value of purchases frequently is in the tens and hundreds of millions of dollars.  Examples include:

  • Procurement Model:  Conducted a comprehensive operational review of procurement activities across all offices and depots in Australia.  Developed and implemented a tailored procurement operating model aligned to the business’ updated financial framework.
  • Procurement and Commercial Assistance:  Managed various tenders projects valued at tens and hundreds of million dollars for materials and services.
  • Overflow Tender Services:  Provided on going “on call” tender management service. This comprised GMDR Group Resources conducting end to end management of allocated tenders for both IT Goods and Services
   

Bid Assistance/Tender Response

GMDR Group provides its clients with a range of tender response and bid assistance services. This includes technical writing; bid management and co-ordination; and commercial support.  Our Consultants lever their experience in procurement; commercial and project management skills; and extensive operational knowledge, to maximise client bid success.

Operations Consulting & Outsourcing Services

GMDR Group Consultants lever their in-depth operational experience to provide clients with a range of operational services. These include:  short term / secondment based assignments (including senior management assignments); detailed operational reviews and audits; mobilisation support for projects transitioning to production status.

 

Further, GMDR Group Consultants provide tailored business process outsourcing services and capability, including: ongoing operational management of quality systems; document management services; and ongoing specialist invoicing & settlement services.

   

Commercial Assistance Modelling

Our Consultant’s understanding of the utility industry, along with their commercial experience, enables us to carry out in-depth analysis and develop models to assist clients to quickly quantify commercial issues and risks.

 

GMDR Group regularly provides clients with assistance in the commercial review of contracts and agreements and extends this to include cost and revenue analysis.
